Contact Me

For a while now my medicine cabinet has been bugging me. I'm pretty sure that our bedroom and bathroom belonged to a young girl because of this on the door:

Eww.

I've contemplated painting the inside or something easier like contact paper. I could never come across any cool contact paper- it was always the same standard fare at Walmart, Target, or Fred Meyer and I wanted something pretty and stylish.

Enter: TJ Maxx. And I found some pretty contact paper which were two rolls for $5.99.

Much improved! I'm so glad I don't have to see that disgusting lipstick smudge (there were other, duller ones as well as if the girl had a marathon kissing sesh with the door).

I had a tiny bubble under the paper so I just quickly poked it with a pin to get the air out.

You can barely tell that I punctured the paper, huh?

Here's a little sneak peek of what I've been working on that I hope to share by Thursday or Friday (depending on how tired I am after this work week). It's coming out beautifully and I'm so excited to share!

A Little Bathroom Update

It's no secret that I get sick of things in my house after a while and I like to switch things up for a fresh new look.

I was a little bored with my key picture in my bathroom.  I still love the picture but I was ready for something new to look at. (I didn't throw it out of course, just stuck it behind the new art in case I change my mind later...)

I often find myself in the scrapbook paper aisle at Michael's and found this 12"x12" printed clock canvas piece. It was more expensive than scrapbook since it was actually fabric but for $1.99 I had to have it. I can use it as art or to cover something small later (like on a mod podge box...).

So... I made it mine.

Cute, huh?

Your Apartment Isn't Perfect Vol. 2

Welcome to another addition of: Your Apartment Isn't Perfect! Here's a few lovely pictures to make you feel better about your own home/apartment!

This crumbling light fixture I found when I tried to change the bulb on the overhead fan in the kitchen. Um, is this a fire hazard???!!! And... I'm not paying for that.

I found my apartment's version of a time capsule when I glanced at the back wall of underneath the sink and discovered this horrendous wallpaper. And also, water marks.

And finally, a glance inside my toilet. I know, I know... eww. But seriously... uh, this screw has been flushed a bazillion times and it comes swimming back to us. I am also NOT getting it out. No. What's in the toilet must stay there, if you know what I mean.

Bathroom Makeover!

I've been wanting to change around my bathroom for a while.  And it's not that I didn't like the bathroom it was just... I wanted something new to look at.  I was ready for something different.  However, it is always a pain in the butt for me to find any shower curtain that I really like.  It took me forever to find my current one at Walmart after exhausting all the alternatives at Target, Bed, Bath & Beyond, JC Penney... everywhere.   Here's what the bathroom looked like just yesterday morning:

The floor is hot, huh?

Better view of things from the bathroom in the old apartment... I miss that bathroom!  The floor... the counter... the larger shower!
I found a shower curtain I loved while casually browsing Anna's Linens in Tucson (which I had never even visited before).  It was $25 (which... I'm pretty cheap and that seemed a little pricey for me) but since I knew shower curtains I liked were hard to come by, I had to get it.

And here's what it looks like this evening!

Someone's not camera shy...

The picture I already owned (found at Ross) and had the perfect colors to coordinate with the shower curtain.  Though... Russ said it looks like they're holding the umbrellas to block urine from hitting them.  Funny.  But still a cute picture... haha.

Still working on the above picture for a future post...
Basically my little bathroom switcheroo only cost about $30 ($25 for the curtain and $5 for the brown soap dispenser from Target).  Can't beat it... and it makes me happy whenever I pass the bathroom, turn on the light and glance inside...
